kellogg's coupon book

be on the lookout for this kelloggs coupon book around town. a blogger from utah found it at walmart. please let us know if you find it!
read about it here.

also there are supposedly boxes of kelloggs cereal that contain a "wake up to breakfast" book inside. details here.

weird coupons

here are a couple of unusual coupons that match up with sales this week, but i have tried them both and they work! no beeps!

the first is a kraft salad dressing printable for $1.50/1. it says "publix" on it but i took it to the harris teeter in davidson, asked the manager if it was okay, she said yes, i checked out with no beeps. the salad dressing is on sale bogof (1.57 each). so 7¢ salad dressing!
go here for that coupon.

the next one is a ragu coupon. it is in spanish! i used this one at the food lion at rocky river promenade. they have ragu big jars on sale 2/$4. use this $1/2 coupon and the food lion printable $1/2 for 50¢ spaghetti sauce.
*some food lion printables DO say that you cannot combine them with other coupons, but this one does not. also i have read that you should stack your coupons so that the manufacturer coupon gets scanned first. again, no beeps!

tip: use internet explorer to print these coupons, or if you use firefox, change the "wi" in the address bar to a "wg".

it is good for 1$ off any product that has earned guiding stars (food lion's program that tells how nutritional a food is, 3 stars being the best).
i love this coupon have been using them on produce and milk mostly, but this week i'm going to buy flour (i love king arthur flour and it never goes on sale) and dark cocoa.

end of summer penne

i don't have a garden...but i have friends who do!
this is an fabulously frugal recipe that i made for dinner last night using some amazing tomatoes that my sister-in-law gave me. i had picked up a small eggplant at the farmer's market last weekend and i got a zucchini at food lion with my 2$/5 food lion printable. it also uses fresh basil and mint, which i have in my herb garden. i already had the cheeses and garlic in my stockpile.
my recipe here.

enjoy!

have you done this deal yet?

this is a package of home 360 travel baby wipes from food lion.
they retail for $1.62.
use the "$1.50 off any diapers or wipes" printable here for 12¢ wipes.
i don't have to tell you that these are great for wiping hands and faces as well as bottoms. stick some in the car, diaper bag or purse...even if you don't have babies anymore!

food lion internet printable coupons...save your paper and ink! MAYBE NOT A GOOD IDEA AFTER ALL :(

well, i took some of my food lion printables today and went shopping.
all the coupons i had so "smartly" copied and pasted did not scan.
luckily the cashier pushed them through.
but you might not want to take the chance on getting a picky cashier who won't take them.
so...i would advise just printing them from jenny's (southern savers) pdf's.
i'm still learning!

$1 cottonelle toilet paper at harris teeter!

i haven't seen this posted anywhere so i thought i would share. besides, it's a little tricky.
go to cottonelle.com
in the bottom right corner, click "create your own"
(okay, you are going to create a pledge on how you are kind to your behind)
(yes, it's silly, but it will get you a $1 coupon!)
(just do it)
follow all the steps on the left side.
print your coupon for $1/4 pack or larger.
print it again by going back 2 clicks.
take it to harris teeter.
cottonelle on sale for $3, with doubled coupon...$1!

why i love the "buy ahead principle"

recently, my friend's husband decided to throw her an impromptu 29th birthday party.
i asked if i could bring anything and he said, "dip".
now i know from previous get togethers that he loves (we all do actually) jalapeno popper spread from allrecipes.
and, i had seen this amazing recipe for mexican layer dip on the pioneer woman's website (that's her photo, she was nice enought to let me use it!) i wanted to try that as well. it was INCREDIBLE.

anyway, the point of all this is that even though it was last minute, i had EVERYTHING i needed except for some cilantro and a hot pepper! and i had a $1 guiding stars coupon from food lion, so i spent 64¢ to make these two wonderful dishes. all the other ingredients i had gotten free or at a very low price with sales and coupons.
these are the things i had stockpiled:
cream cheese
mayonnaise
parmesan cheese
refried beans
shredded cheese
olives
guacamole (sorry ree, i did use wholly guacamole...it's good!)
sour cream
hot sauce
cumin
green chiles
grape tomatoes (i always have these on hand)
crackers and tortilla chips

looking at that picture i want to go make some right now!
don't you?

*MAYBE NOT A GOOD IDEA AFTER ALL.
COUPONS PRINTED THIS WAY DON'T SCAN.
IT WOULD BE UP TO YOUR CASHIER/MANAGER TO PUSH THEM THROUGH OR NOT.
BETTER TO USE SOUTHERN SAVERS SITE AND PRINT FROM THERE.

duh.
i just figured out how to print only the food lion coupons i want!
(see left side bar for the link to the coupons made possible by southern savers)
okay.
open the food lion coupon page.
click the "pdf" link for the set of coupons you want.
use the "select" tool to "crop" the coupon you want.
paste it into a word document. you can paste again and again if you want multiples of a coupon.
(on my old computer, word has to be opened before i copy the coupon).
*remember, you can only use 1 of each kind of coupon per day*

harris teeter mooresville UUUUGGGGHHHH!

just talked to my friend j on the phone.
she had tried to use the $1.50/2 wisk coupon on the bogof wisk this week at the mooresville harris teeter. they told her she would have to buy 3!
they seem to be getting more and more picky.
i must admit i hardly go in there any more.

actually... according to this, i think j should have been able to use her 1 coupon.

i can't help it. i'm a proud mama.
here's my 17 year old son, on the front page of the mooresville tribune sports section.
pitched the entire 9 innings of the 3rd game in the best of 5 series against concord.
the mooresville defense behind him was practically flawless.
i have to admit i did not breathe the latter part of the 9th inning when the score was 4-3.
but the moors pulled it out to sweep the series!
here's the youtube video of the final strike out.

warning on the target kashi deal!

pay close attention to your target kashi coupons.
today i was checking out and apparently the second target printable beeped.
the sweet girl asked, "did you get 4 boxes of cereal bars?".
i said no and thought that i must have just accidentally put in two coupons (they are 1$/2).
when i got home, i realized that i had put in two coupons, but one for for the two boxes of cereal bars and one for the 2 boxes of kashi TLC crackers i bought!
so...
the coupons are very similar, keep it in your head what you bought!
