they brought me the most awesome, basic, good-on-everything seasoning called, "slap ya mama".
it is a combination of salt, black pepper, red pepper, and garlic.
no extra junk.
perfect for A LOT of things i cook!
so, when i started to run low on this magic, i asked neighbor don, "can you get me some more?????"
unfortunately, it comes from louisiana :( may be a while.
then...
because God loves me so much...
it came to pass that i ran into my sister- and brother-in-law at the local walmart.

this is a fun, inexpensive, easy salad i make occasionally.
simply take a washed head of iceburg lettuce, core it and cut into 4 or 5 wedges.
top with salad dressing of your choice, we like ranch or blue cheese.
then "sprinkle" with small diced tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, green onions, and bacon.
you can top with what ever you have in the fridge!
my daughter put olives on her's.
add some freshly ground black pepper for the grand finale :)

what to do if you do not get the catalina printout you were expecting

how frustrating it can be.
you shop specifically to get that magic coupon printout at the end that will give you money off the next time you shop.
and then it doesn't pop out :(

first of all, always look at the catalina machine as you are checking out to make sure that little green light is on, meaning the machine is working properly.
last week at harris teeter, the light was on, but others were blinking.
before the transaction completed, i said something to the cashier.
sure enough, the paper was jammed.
she fixed it, and my catalinas printed fine.
saving me and customer service a lot of trouble!

just a heads up....
the $5/5 kraft printable will not work at bottom dollar.
the cashier was very sweet about it and even talked to the manager.
it's crazy because the sour cream and shredded cheese i was trying to buy even had the little "huddle for hunger" sticker on it.
i had my printout of items that were included.
she apologized profusely.
so...
take it to food lion, i have used them there a few times with no problems.

but apparently it's not working at bottom dollar or walmart.

walmart kraft cheese

i was at the mooresville walmart yesterday and noticed that they have bags of shredded kraft cheese for $2.
if you have the $5/5 printable that's a pretty good deal.
it's still available here too!

*UPDATE ON THE WALMART CHEESE DEAL*
my friend went to walmart yesterday to do the cheese deal.
he said they told him that the $5/5 coupon is fraudulent.
this is not so!
if you look on the coupon, there is a 16 digit number beneath a barcode looking thing on the right side.
if you go to the coupons, inc resource page, you can enter this number to tell if your coupon is legit.
i have seen displays sending consumers to the "huddle to fight hunger" website to print this coupon.
it IS a legitimate coupon.
i have had the cashiers at walmart tell me that they will not take an internet printable that beeps. and this coupon does beep (i think because it's a high value coupon).
this is not, however, part of the walmart corporate coupon policy.
you may want to print that out and take it with you.
i think if you want to try this coupon at walmart, talk with a manager before checking out, point out the "veri-fi" code and present your case!
